Atayne 360 - February 2010
The Community Has Spoken and We Want You to Speak Again

Thank you to everyone who voted and shared their thoughts for the design of our forthcoming cycling jersey. With only four days to vote, the response was much more than we anticipated. It is great to have such a strong community of people who care about the products that we put out and more importantly, want to be involved in the process.
Getting people involved in the development of our products is not a one-time deal. Whether it is voting, product testing, or submitting your own ideas or designs, we will continually provide opportunities for you to have a true say as we strive to build a company for the people by the people.
If you want to take part in the fun and games, be sure to fan us on
Facebook and/or follow-us on
Twitter. We will notify people of any new opportunities to get involved via those communication platforms. Stay tuned as we recruit a team of product testers in the coming weeks to finalize the development of our shorts.
And congrats to Stefan R, the lucky winner of our cycling jersey drawing.
Monthly Enviro Tip

While there are still a few more months of prime downhill skiing, very soon we will be packing the ski gear away and pulling out the shorts and flip flops. Many people may take advantage of end-of-season sales to pick up new gear. If you find yourself in that lucky boat, make sure you don't just dump the old gear so it lands in a landfill.
Science Made Simple: How do Performance Fabrics Perform?
Do you ever wonder what the deal is with performance apparel? Just 15 years ago, most people were running, cycling, hiking, etc. in cotton garments. Now, the idea of that is unimaginable to most hard core athletes and weekend warriors. So what makes performance apparel so special? What is the deal with wicking and technical fabrics? Our Scientist-in-Residence, Kelsey, breaks it down in language we can all understand in
this month's Science Made Simple.
Our Favorite Littlest Athlete
A little over a year ago, we introduced you to our favorite little athlete, Kennedy. For over 7 years now she has been racing for life in her battle with spinal cord cancer. Despite the constant struggles she faces, Kennedy stays active like no other. Whether she is horseback riding, skiing, or playing with her brother Nate, Kennedy continually reminds us that "limits only exist in the mind."
If you happen to be in the Washington DC area this weekend, we encourage you to attend the
5th Annual Chance for Life Event. Not only will you get a chance to meet Kennedy, you will bring us one step closer to a cure for pediatric spinal cord cancer. Last year's event raised over $100,000.
Atayne at Play
Michele and Jay M recently did a little Re-Cycling in the peaks of the Sierra Nevada in Andalusia, Spain. And no, that is not a typo-the Sierra Nevadas are not just in the USA. The phrase is actually Spanish for "snowy mountain range." Although we must say, it doesn't look very snowy in Andalusia
In the News and on Our Fridge
It's a Little Known Fact
Congratulations to Ed who was one of the many that knew that we have used less than 1 ream of paper in our first 2 ½ years. We have 7 sheets left and are hoping that will get us through the rest of the winter!
Now for February's question: instead of washing your sweaty workout apparel, what's another way to get rid of the bacteria and stank? Here's a hint. It does not involve water or any sort of deodorant spray.
To join in the fun, email your answer to adventure@atayne.com. To be entered into the drawing for the $25 gift certificate, your answer must be received by Sunday, February 28.
Until next Month, Keep it Clean!
